Fernando Pohina, BFA, CPFA

Vice President / Wealth Strategist

The son of a struggling single-mother, Fernando worked with his mom at the local swap meets, fairs, and odd jobs which taught him the value of hard work, dedication, and the value of a dollar. While watching his mother work a full time job, go back to college and get both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree, he witnessed her make the same mistakes that so many Americans make by not being financially literate. Seeing her struggle through these hard times gave him the desire to want to help clients seek financial freedom by creating financial efficiencies to help pursue their goals.

While going to college in Thousand Oaks, California, he was fortunate to be mentored on relationship building, operational management, and the importance of taking care of employees and clients. At the age of 23, and through his hard work and dedication, Fernando became the youngest branch manager at FedEx Office is Los Angeles. He was then promoted to the Senior Center Manager in Bellevue, Washington, managing a staff of 92 in one of their largest sales operations in the company. He had a sales budget of over $5M and a large client base and was a consistent top performing cluster.

In 2008, after 13 years and many accolades with FedEx Office, Fernando transitioned to his career in the financial industry; allowing him to carry out his early aspirations of helping clients pursue their financial goals. His practice helped his clients in the areas of life insurance, disability insurance, retirement planning, college planning, estate planning, and business planning. Through consulting with his clients Fernando helped his clientele mitigate risk and strive to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their money over time.

In 2014, Fernando joined Pacific Capital Resource Group, Inc. in Bellevue, Washington, and brought his vast knowledge and desire to educate clients and help them reduce financial inefficiencies. He personally meets with clients to review their goals and objectives, helping to develop a customized financial plan to address their financial goals. Utilizing his management skills, Fernando has built a team of advisers that work with clients of all complexities and deliver service that is communicative, educational, and of utmost integrity.

Fernando has successfully passed his Series 7, Series 66 & Series 24 exams and holds his Washington State Life and Disability Insurance license. He also completed the Executive Certificate Program at The Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania and earned the certification of Retirement Planning Specialist, focusing on the baby boomer generation and their transition into retirement.

When Fernando isn’t working with his clients, you’ll find him enjoying life with his wife Letisha and their three children. He loves to snowboard, travel and support the kids sports teams. We are proud supporters of local soccer, baseball and football.  As an Eagle Scout, Fernando also works with the Eagle Court of Honors and merit badge specialists, educating boy scouts on ways to serve their communities and earn their merit badges.
